Meron Amare was born and raised in Ethiopia. She studied both in her native Ethiopia and also in Oslo, Norway. After she relocated to the U.S., Meron lived in Washington D.C. metropolitan area and interned in different not for profit law firms. In summer of 2013, Meron decided to join Episcopal Servicer Corps MD and moved to Baltimore. As a Gilead, she worked for Project PLASE, Inc., a not-for-profit organization that serves the homeless population of Baltimore by providing shelter and other direct services. Meron worked for the women shelter in North Ave. She says her time as a Gilead was a growing experience as a person and an opportunity to serve the community without expecting anything back. Currently, Meron is in law school at State University of New York at Buffalo studying family law. She focuses on abuse and neglect representation of children. In law school Meron is in top 25 of her class and an associate at Buffalo Law Review. Upon graduation, Meron will be moving to Seattle to sit for Washington bar in summer of 2016, and reunite with her husband.
